R. Kay Snyder
Mercer County native R. Kay Snyder, 61, died Jan. 3, 2008, at her residence in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Death was due to cancer.
She was born April 8, 1946, in Mercer County, to Waldo W. and A. Lucille Freewald Snyder, who are deceased. In 1979, she married James M. David, who survives.
Other survivors are two brothers, Terrill and Stephan, both of Celina; and a sister, Jill (Dan) Myers, Celina.
Deceased is a brother, Woodrow.
  She was a registered nurse who worked in various positions in Ohio, California, Arizona, New Hampshire and Idaho. She was a 1964 graduate of the former Mendon-Union High School and a 1968 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She was a member of the Idaho Falls Unitarian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and served as president of the American Association of University Women for the Idaho Falls chapter and later as president of the division. She also was a member of the Idaho Alpine Club, Idaho Nurses Association, League of Women Voters and the Idaho Conservation League. She helped found the Idaho Falls chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (P-FLAG). She also was a member of the Betty Anderson tap dancers.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 26 in Idaho Falls and at a later date in Celina.
Contributions can be made to the East Idaho Chapter of P-FLAG of Idaho Falls or Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
Arrangements were handled by Wood Funeral Home, Idaho Falls.
