Jerome Wissman
Jerome A. Wissman, 85, Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster, formerly of New Bremen, died at 10:20 p.m. Nov. 29, 2007, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born on May 3, 1922, in New Bremen to Anthony and Alvina (Seger) Wissman. On May 18, 1946, he married Doris Oldiges, who survives in Minster.
Also surviving are a son, Dale, Beavercreek; four daughters, Mary (George) Chenault, Enon, Margaret George, Yorkshire, Jean (Clayton) Harmon, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Rose (Tom) Drexler, Celina; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Deceased are five half brothers, Andrew, Ray, Urban, Richard, and Norbert Wissman; three half sisters, Adele Hildefort, Elizabeth Budde, and Rose Mary Turner; and one great grandson.
He retired from the former STAMCO, New Bremen, in 1985. He also drove a bus for the Auglaize School in New Bremen. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer, New Bremen. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 241, New Bremen and a charter member of the Walk-up County Club, Fort Loramie. He was also a member of New Bremen Senior Citizens.
Funeral mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial is at Willow Grove Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
