Dayton man faces gun charges

A Montgomery County man faces multiple charges, including three felonies related to firearms, following a weekend altercation at The 211 Club on South Main Street. He allegedly pointed a handgun at a local man before the weapon was wrestled away by a woman.
Raymond N. Bey, 29, of Dayton, faces multiple charges including having a weapon under disability, carrying a concealed weapon on a liquor permit premises and entering a liquor permit premises with a weapon. The first two charges are third-degree felonies while the latter is a fifth-degree felony.
He also has been charged with three misdemeanors including possessing a weapon while intoxicated and two counts of aggravated menacing.
Celina police responded to the bar late Saturday night on reports of an altercation involving an armed suspect
Bey had been involved in an argument at the bar prior to pulling the weapon, according to witnesses. Fellow patrons Charles Baker and James Evans, both of Celina, exited the bar and Bey allegedly confronted them.
He allegedly lifted his shirt to display the gun tucked into his waistband. A fight ensued with Bey pulling the gun at one point and pointing it at Baker. Another patron - Dawn Schwartz of Celina - grabbed the gun from his hand. Bey then broke free and fled the scene.
Witnesses reported the suspect ran west along a nearby alley and officers quickly located him passed out in an apartment behind the 211 S. Main St. bar.
Bey, suffering from injuries sustained during the altercation and while patrons attempted to pin him down, was taken by ambulance to Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater and later transported to the Mercer County Jail following emergency room treatment.
Sporting a black eye, he appeared Monday in Celina Municipal Court and was subsequently released on his own recognizance pending a preliminary hearing set for 10:15 a.m. Dec. 3.
