John Ahrns
John B. Ahrns, 77, 56 W. Second St., Minster, died at 8:15 p.m. Oct. 23, 2007, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Minster, to Richard and Julena Sautman Ahrns. On Sept. 19, 1949, he married Lavonne "Bonnie" Behr, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Tim (Mary), Beavercreek; a daughter, Susan Monnin, Minster; three brothers, James, Edward (Marilyn) and Richard (Janice), all of Minster; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased is an infant sister, Helen.
He was the retired owner and operator of the Minster Lumber Co. A U.S. Army Reserves veteran, he was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aries 1391, the Minster Civic Association, Knights of Columbus and the first president of the Kiwanis Club, all of Minster. He also was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster.
Funeral Mass is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association or the American Heart Association.
