Compiled by Gary R. Rasberry
Fort Recovery got its season going in strong fashion, posting a 33-0 shutout at Ansonia in a game halted in the fourth quarter due to rain.
The Indians held the Tigers to just 98 yards of offense while compiling 304 yards with a balanced running and passing game.
Junior quarterback Toby Metzger had a solid game, completing six of his 11 passes for 114 yards and throwing for two touchdowns. Metzger also ran one in for a touchdown.
Running back Matt Braun had a big night, carrying the ball 24 times for 133 yards and scored the first touchdown of the game. Frank Thein added 25 yards on two carries and scored a touchdown.
Michael Trobridge had one catch for 58 yards, but the catch went for Metzger's second passing touchdown of the game. Greg Kahlig had the first Metzger scoring pass, finishing with three catches for 48 yards. Thein added two snags for 26 yards.
The Indians defense put pressure on Ansonia's passing game. Quarterback Chance Cox was just 8-for-17 for 48 yards and three interceptions.
The Indians travel to Rockford next week to face the Panthers.
