Wilbert Mescher
Wilbert L. Mescher, 77, 19131 45th Avenue. N.E., Seattle, Wash., died at 5:56 p.m. July 24, 2007 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Yorkshire to Joseph and Katherine Walterbusch Mescher. On June 29, 1963 in Osgood, he married Carol Bergman, who died April 26, 1991.
Surviving are a son, Mark (Sari), Newton, Mass.; three daughters, Ann, Seattle, Wash., Karen (Michael) Ballas, Fort Loramine, and Marlene (Wolf) Richter, Princeton, N.J.; four brothers, Richard (Carolyn), North Star, Linus (Margaret), Portland, Ind., Alfred (Janet), Troy, and Joseph (Mary Ann), St. Henry; three sisters, Norma (Ivo) Brackman, Fort Recovery; Rita Siefring, Burkettsville, and Alfrieda (Glen) Anderson, San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Leonard Otte, Cassella; and a sister-in-law, Olivia Mescher, Osgood.
He was a retired teacher who taught for two years at St. Marys, two years at Coldwater and 28 years at Sidney. He was also a retired farmer and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville; American Legion, Osgood; and the National Rifle Association. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University and attended University of Dayton and the University of Illinois. He received his master's degree from Wright State University.
Funeral mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Patrick Welsh officiating. Burial is at St. Martins Cemetery, Osgood.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
