Coldwater sweeps two from Elida

Coldwater improved to 13-2 on the ACME season with a doubleheader sweep of Elida at Ed Sandy Field on Saturday.

In game one, Jordan Borgerding and Alex Geier combined to hold the Bulldogs to three hits in a 4-2 win. Borgerding went the first six innings, allowing one earned run and two walks. Geier threw a perfect seventh for the save.

Keith Schoenherr continued his sizzling hitting display on the summer, hitting a grand slam and his third triple in two days to drive in four runs.

In the nightcap, Coldwater scored five times in the top of the first en route to a 15-3 win in seven innings.

Nick Selhorst got his first win of the summer, throwing four innings of five-hit baseball. Geier went the final three to earn the old-school save.

Kyle Ahrens paced the Cavalier hitting attack with four hits and three RBI while Tony Harlamert added three hits.

Coldwater is back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Defiance for a doubleheader in a rematch from last year's ACME state tournament final, a game the Bulldogs won to capture the state title.
