Edward Stammen
Edward H. Stammen, 88, 91 E. Main St., Burkettsville, died at 6 p.m. May 3, 2007, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born May 13, 1918, in Burkettsville, to Joseph and Josephine Wise Stammen. On April 30, 1947, he married Bernadine N. Otte, who died June 26, 1995.
Surviving are a son, Terry (Marcia) of New Weston; five daughters, Sharon (Virgil) Winner, Dayton, Yvonne (Kenneth) Abell, Corydon, Ind., Adele (James) Heckman, Fort Recovery, Cindy (Mark) Henderson, Springboro, and Pamela (David) Stoltzner, Arlington Heights, Ill.; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include three brothers, Alfons (Lois) of North Star, Cyril (Matilda) and Carl (Ruth), all of St. Henry; four sisters, Marguerite Langenkamp, Celina, Marie Langenkamp, North Star, Delores Groff, Dayton, and Eulalia (Elmer) Klosterman, Celina; and three sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Stammen, Coldwater, Sally Stammen, Burkettsville, and Ruth Stammen, New Weston.
Deceased are four brothers, Herman, Virgil, Cornelius and Larry, and two sisters, Colletta and Armella.
A farmer, he had served as coordinator for the National Farmers Organization collection point in Burkettsville. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, where he formerly served as groundskeeper, on the Men's Society and on the church choir, and Fort Recovery American Legion.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at the church, the Revs. Tony Fortman and David Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with the Fort Recovery Legion conducting military rites.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
