Three Mercer Soil and Water Conservation District office employees will be working full-time again.
The employees had been working a reduced schedule for about 18 months due to budget cuts. The SWCD board of supervisors approved putting the employees back on full-time status.
Jerry Linn was hired at the Mercer County Soil and Water Conservation District in 1965 and his service to the district and county will be sorely missed, said board member and recent SWCD board Chairman Rick Muhlenkamp.
Grand Lake/Wabash Watershed Alliance coordinator Theresa May reported that she will apply for an Ohio EPA 319 grant that would help pay for conservation practices designed to improve water quality in those watersheds.
Sediment traps the state built in tributaries leading into Grand Lake are filling up fast, said Grand Lake St. Marys State Park Assistant Manager Brian Miller.
WAPAKONETA - For a half, Celina was determined to match Wapakoneta point-for-point with a patient offense.
The Redskins finally were able to get a cushion in the second half, beating the Bulldogs 53-42 at Wapak High School in the regular-season finale for both teams.
