Paul Whitmore
Paul D. Whitmore, 78, of Convoy, died at 10:29 a.m., Dec. 29, 2006, at Convoy Care Center.
He was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Mercer County, to Donald E. and Mabel Lillick Whitmore. On Dec. 1, 1951, he married Helen P. Young, who survives.
Other survivors are three daughters, Rita (Lynn) Sauders, Columbia City, Ind., Nancy (Eric) Hansen, Mansfield, and Sue Ellen (Don) Duncan, Convoy; a brother, Don (Carolyn), Spencerville; two sisters, Juanita (Christie) Bashore, Rockford, and Ruth E. Gribler, Van Wert; a sister-in-law, Viola Whitmore, Texas; two step-sisters, Martha (Mel) Lawler, Fort Wayne, and Linda Fisher, Celina; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Robert E. and Verl.
He was a farmer and drove a truck for Roundy's for 11 years. He retired from the state unemployment office after 28 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Harrison Township, where he also served as head usher and deacon. He was a member, secretary and treasurer of St. Paul's Brotherhood. He was a member of the Convoy Lions Club for over 30 years, where he also served as president. He was a Lion Tamer member. He was a member of Pleasant Grange. He was a 1947 graduate of Rockford High School.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Church, the Rev. Wes. Kuntzman officiating. Burial is at Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, Convoy.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Stainfield Memorial Home, Convoy.
