Derrell Franklin
Derrell "Ted" Franklin, 96, of Fort Recovery, died at 6 p.m. Sept. 11, 2006, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
He was born Aug. 12, 1910, in Jay County, Ind., to George and Mollie Warnock Franklin. On Dec. 25, 1941, he married Nellie Roop Franklin, who survives in St. Henry.
Survivors are several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Perry, Floyd and Francis; and a sister, Beatrice Stoner.
He formerly owned and operated Fort Recovery Monuments and served as manager of Springhill & Greenmound Cemeteries, all of Fort Recovery. He was formerly a member of Fort Recovery Village Council. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving during World War II.
He was a 60-year member, past secretary and past Master of Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 539; member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 111; member of American Legion Post 345; and board member of Fort Recovery United Methodist Church, all of Fort Recovery. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, Dayton.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Revs. Robert Dungan and Kenneth Galdeen officiating. Masonic services are 7:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is at Springhill Cemetery, Fort Recovery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Contributions can be made to Fort Recovery Community Foundation or the church.
