Two candidates will be vying for the Republican nomination for
the seat of county treasurer in the March 2 primary election.
April Bowersock, 44, 18931 Ohio 501, Wapakoneta, and Pamela
Crisp, 54, 20971 Middle Pike road, Wapakoneta, have both decided
to run for the spot being vacated by Jenny Pitchford, who will
step down and retire after completing her fourth term this year.
Bowersock is married and has two children. She has not held
                  any previously elected offices.
“I was interested when I heard the existing treasurer
was retiring,” Bowersock said. “I wanted to wait
until my children were a little older and more independent.
Bowersock currently works in the financial department at Perry
Corp. in Lima. Her resume boasts 18 years of finance experience
and 25 years managerial experience. Past job experience includes
taking care of payroll, investing, and managing million dollar-plus
                  portfolios and banks.
Bowersock said she would attempt to make the public more familiar
with county finances and make records more easily accessible.
Crisp is married and has two grown children. She has held two
separate elected positions previously, as St. Marys city auditor
from 1984-1997 and a member of St. Marys City Council 1981-1983.
Crisp works in the county auditor’s office where she processes
payroll and handles benefits for county employees.
Crisp said her experience as city auditor gave her the experience
necessary for the treasurer’s position. She has experience
in accounting and financial reporting, auditing, budgeting and
                  fund accounting.
“I decided to run for treasurer because I enjoy working
for the county,” Crisp said. “I like dealing with
                  people.”
The winner of the primary will win the seat because no Democratic
or indpendent candidates have filed to run for the seat.
